Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Demo now available
Believe me, I was no different. I used to spend a major part of my day playing and winning. I used to win… win like a lion, every time. My friends had come to believe that I was unbeatable. I thought that too. I wanted to be the best gamer in the world. But the universe has something else planned for me.
I was 23 when my life took an unfortunate turn. My dad lost his life in a brutal car accident. The responsibility of my mom and my 3 little sisters fell right on my head and the 'gaming beast' in me ended up selling electronic products in a little shop.
I am a tech-guy. The second option for me would have been somewhere in an IT firm. Ah, well! But, things have not changed entirely. The craze in me has not died yet.
I still am a pro gamer, only the passion to be world-famous has gotten a little dimmer. Lately, I have been watching kids spending heaps of money on PC games. Why should we put a price tag on the fun? Apparently you dont know about all that server stuff. What does a console game have to do with people logging onto the network that play on the PC? Whilst the network that handle each platform's load are likely separate, the two consoles demos still connect to the EA servers for stat tracking.
This won't directly affect the PC' portion of that network, per se, but it means that the argument of them wanting to control server load is relegated merely to testing the performance of the PC-specific network access. A stress test is still a stress test, however, and they already have gotten data on that server load, and subsequently fixed many issues with it. The reason there is no "free demo" on the PC is because the PC version needed beta testing to iron out some bugs and tighten things up.
They have already implemented some of the fixes that needed to be made in the beta to the retail version, but as you can see with the updates, they are further improving the system. Whereas the console version had already been tested during the PS3 beta. It may not have highlighted specific issues, but it aided them in fixing network connection bugs, finding some universal bugs, and changing some gameplay values for balancing.
Also, the Battlefield 2 demo came out about 2 weeks prior to its release at retail. Due to the beta schedule, however, and its openness to basically anyone who really wants it put some legwork into it and you can get a key easily , meaning the company will see this as a sort of pre-demo, don't expect an official PC demo until a couple weeks after launch at least.
